Meyer Lemon Olive Oil
Store bought Meyer lemon olive oil is delicious. But so is this homemade lemon infused olive oil recipe. Olive oil and lemon juice can also be used to make a marinade or a good furniture polish.
Lemon olive oil is produced by pressing lemons (in this case Meyers) with olives and then removing the lemon juice from the olive oil.
What you end up with is a delicious lemon infused olive oil. You can make this yourself at home but you would go about it a bit differently than the lemon olive oil producers in California and Italy do.
Make Lemon Infused Olive Oil
Heat 1 cup of extra virgin olive oil to which you've added the zest of 2 lemons to the simmering point. Turn the heat off and let the oil stand until it cools.
Strain the Meyers lemon olive oil into a cruet.
Lemon Juice Olive Oil Furniture Polish
Shake half a cup of olive oil with the juice of half a lemon. Pour a little of the lemon juice and olive oil mixture onto a soft cloth and use it to polish your woodwork or wooden furniture.
Pine and oak seem to have a special affinity for olive oil and lemon juice.
The lemon juice cleans the wood while the olive oil moisturizes and imparts a sheen.
Olive Oil Lemon Marinade
Use a proprietary Meyer lemon olive oil to marinade chicken or fish. Alternatively, mix lemon juice and olive oil half and half, add some chopped hot peppers and pour this over raw chicken or fish. Cover and refrigerate the meat for at least an hour before cooking it.
